The Labor Day Bridgewalk

The 51st ANNUAL LABOR DAY BRIDGE WALK
September 1, 2008.

Each Labor day tens of thousands of people from all over assemble to walk across the 5-mile long Mackinac Bridge.
This is the only time of the year that foot traffic is allowed on the Mighty Mac.
This tradition started in 1958, with then Governor G. Mennen Williams, and has continued to this day with every governor leading the crowd across the bridge from St.Ignace to Mackinaw City on Labor Day morning.
